Men bia đặc biệt mang tên men A-Yeast®
‘Thành phần’ đặc biệt và là yếu tố chính tạo nên hương vị phong phú làm choáng ngợp giác quan khi bạn thưởng thức Heineken lại là ‘bí mật’ mang tên A-Yeast®. Và đằng sau công trình kỳ công ấy là những cá nhân kiệt xuất của nền khoa học thế kỷ 20.
Vào năm 1886, ông tổ Gerard Heineken đã cho thành lập một phòng thí nghiệm riêng trong nhà máy bia ở Amsterdam và giao cho tiến sĩ khoa học Hartog Elion phụ trách với một nhiệm vụ quan trọng: Tìm ra một loại men bia đặc biệt sử dụng trong bia Heineken. Kết quả là Elion đã cùng với Louis Pasteur nuôi cấy thuần chủng hai giống men tinh khiết: men Heineken A và D.

Hàng tháng, men bia được chuyển từ nhà máy chính của tập đoàn đặt tại Zoeterwoude, Hà Lan, cũng là nhà máy bia lớn nhất Châu Âu, đến những nhà sản xuất bia Heineken trên toàn thế giới.
