Không có số liệu thống kế chính thức bao nhiêu phụ nữ đang ủ, nấu cũng như nắm được bí quyết sản xuất bia một cách thành thục, lành nghề nhưng chắc chắn họ là một lực lượng đông đảo và không có đối thủ. Riêng tại nước Anh, Emma Gilleland là người đứng đầu của chuỗi cung ứng bia Marston, nhà sản xuất bia độc lập hàng đầu tại đất nước sương mù. Một phụ nữ người Anh khác là Sara Barton, người sở hữu và điều hành nhà máy bia Brewster ở Lincolnshire. Bà Sara Barton sáng lập nhà máy bia tư nhân vào năm 1998 được coi là nhà phong cho phụ nữ trong ngành công nghiệp bia ở nước Anh. Chính bà cũng đã sáng lập ra dự án Venus, tập hợp những phụ nữ nấu bia thủ công chuyên nghiệp, phát minh ra 8 loại bia riêng để giới thiệu ra thị trường.

Các doanh nghiệp sản xuất bia với người đứng đầu là phụ nữ đã tạo nên một sự bùng nổ về số lượng các nhà máy bia ở Anh. Năm 2013, có tới 197 nhà máy bia được khai trương, kỷ lục của 70 năm lịch sử ngành công nghiệp bia tại đây.
Đồ uống nấu từ cây hoa bia đã có lịch sử 4000 năm ở nước Anh và những người sản xuất bia đầu tiên cũng chính là phụ nữ. Từ lâu đời, phụ nữ truyền thống ủ bia để sử dụng kèm thực phẩm như một chế độ ăn uống hàng ngày cho tất cả mọi người, bao gồm cả cung cấp dinh dưỡng cho trẻ em và là một loại nước uống an toàn. Nếu sản xuất dư thừa, lượng bia không dùng đến được phụ nữ mang bán lại để thu về một khoản thu nhập cho gia đình.

Thời đại mới, cùng với thời gian, thái độ và định kiến giới thay đổi, phong trào nữ quyền phát triển, sản xuất bia đã trở thành một lựa chọn nghề nghiệp của thế hệ phụ nữ trẻ. Người ta cũng bắt đầu quan tâm tới an toàn thực phẩm: xuất xứ và độ tươi ngon, nhất là làm thế nào để họ có thể thưởng thức những thực phẩm, đồ uống đảm bảo nhất. Và không ai khác ngoài những người phụ nữ với sự am hiểu về bia không kém gì công việc nội trợ với cây trái, rau, gia vị là những thế hệ sản xuất bia tiếp nối.
Kết quả là ngành công nghệp sản xuất bia đã “lôi kéo” được thêm rất nhiều “đồng minh” nữ. Cùng với sản xuất bia bằng máy móc, nghề ủ và làm bia thủ công cũng được khơi mào trở lại. Và cùng với những phụ nữ sản xuất bia, số lượng phụ nữ ưa thích đồ uống này ngày càng gia tăng.
Trong khi sản xuất rượu đang bị ngưng trệ do sự ghẻ lạnh của người dân trên thế giới, bia lại hứa hẹn một tương lai sáng lạn khi thu hút ngày càng đông những phụ nữ muốn tham gia sản xuất và tiêu thụ.
